Vegetative Mapping
Overview:
This mapping project was undertaken in 2009 to identify existing submergent and emergent vegetation. No Eurasian Milfoil was discovered. Discussion is underway to determine if and when another vegetative mapping study should be done.
Process:
Don and Ivy Douglas devoted 37 hours between July 8 and July 31 to map existing vegetation in Big Sand. 995 points were mapped for sampling, using their 19 ft. pontoon, Garmin GPS Map 76, rake and rope collection, point-intercept grid. Only locations 37 feet deep or less had vegetation.
